Bio:

1985-1996 Qualitative Research Project Director for B2B, high-tech and medical research studies at Fleischman Field Research.

  1. Gained extensive experience interviewing respondents from a many different backgrounds, and managing research programs for a variety of industries.

  2. Conduct hundreds of ad test and pharmaceutical research among the medical community

  3. Susan was conducting “usability” studies before this method became a formally identified research methodology. For instance, assessment of the software Lotus123, gathering feedback from Morticians and Infectious Disease Physicians about the “usability” of a tools used for autopsies.


1996-1999 Research Associate/Field Director  for a qualitative market research firm, DDMH Worldwide.

  1. Learned the fine art of qualitative report writing and assisted in consumer-based research studies for two amazing moderators at the top of their field.


1999-2004 Senior Qualitative Project Director at a San Francisco-based interactive research firm, Socratic Technologies.

  1. Conducted focus groups, in-depth interviews and Web boards among varying audiences with a focus on the “customer experience.”

  2. Conducted international qualitative research projects. Solely responsible from study design to analysis. Including China, Japan and Europe, in addition to “in-language” domestic studies.

  3. Assessed both Web site interfaces and non-Web based products: computer wrist rests, laptop carry cases, wireless download interface, children’s toys, etc.

  4. Pioneered in designing User Interface (UI) research studies for both multi-national (e.g., Cisco and Bank of America) and dotcom industries (e.g., Webvan and Brightstreet).

  5. Aided in the design of one of the first available portable “UI Labs” for use worldwide.

  6. In addition, Susan has experience managing many research programs in International markets.


2004 to present REALeResearch is founded. Susan now offers over 20 years experience as a moderator, qualitative research consultant and analyst, and usability specialist.
